| How to Obtain a Louisiana Fishing License |
*Be aware that when you are fishing with a licensed Louisiana guide, you are privileged to a discounted rate fishing license. Be sure to take advantage of this offer as it is a significant reduction in cost.
There are 3 easy ways to obtain a Louisiana fishing license.
1) Obtain your license in person at an authorized Louisiana license vendor
2) Obtain your license online from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website. ( www.wlf.louisiana.gov ) You will need to be connected to a printer for this.
3) Obtain your license by utilizing a 24-hour toll free license hotline. This is a fantastic service but charges a $3.00 convenience fee. You will speak directly to an operator who will take all of your information. After completing a credit card transaction over the phone, you will be given 2 numbers to write down. These 2 numbers along with your picture I.D. will act as your fishing license. That telephone # is 888-765-2602. Have your driver's license, social security #, credit card and pen & paper handy.
*In the past, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries required that you state your fishing guide's guide I.D. # in order to receive the discounted rate. That is no longer the case. However, if you choose to get the discounted rate license, you had better be fishing with a licensed Louisiana guide or you could find yourself in a bad situation.
